Getting cosy with Rubber

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

We know we love ‘em, but who’d of thought it. One of our longest held clients is moving into the Den for a short break!

Team Rubber and Thought Den have crafted loads of Flash games and successful Virals together for many many years, including to name a couple, the famous JVC Euro football and COI’s Fire Kills.

This week’s office mash-up will be an effort to keep the both ours and Team Rubber‘s staff in a closed environment for chiselling away at a major spooky project. It’ll be intense, but the results will be well worth it for the client.

Choosing your platform on MySpace

Friday, May 8th, 2009

So we’re staring to develop a MySpace application with Team Rubber, which is all good news. Basically it means we get to play with a new technology and they get to have their cool application benefit from the power of a social network.

However, not all is rosy. At the first step we’re presented with the choice, “Do you want to develop with OpenSocial or MySpaceID?”.

OpenId or MrSpaceId, which one?

What? Which one do we choose! Surely like every other social platform, api or online do-hickey you just sign-up, ignore the instructions till it breaks then code like the wind?

It’s not even like the bullet points help you make a decision. Both offer their positives, but not weighted against each others.

To be honest why can’t we just have both? Surely, we could just use OpenSocial as a base and then add on any MySpaceID stuff as it goes?

Nope. One or t’other.

aMap argument creator hits the 1000 mark!

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Jeez’s it’s getting good! A quick update on aMap the Argument Mapping widget/gadget which launched 10 days ago (read about it here). It’s been spreading and so far it’s had full articles on TechCrunch and the Daily Telegraph site since it went live.

Telegraph.co.uk

Even better than that, this first version of the aMap widget/gadget has ignited bloggers’ passions and they’ve been leaving some very ‘constructive’ comments on how to improve it for the next version, like,

  • “Great, although it can still develop the argument threading – the concept is interesting.”, James.
  • “the idea is good, except the map is too shaky and is difficult to read”, ujjwal kumar.

So here’s looking forward to the version 2, and Thought Den working with Delib on the Interaction, Flash and PHP to make their product even more successful! Because last night, it screamed past 1000 arguments created (see below) which isn’t too shabby!

Booty Juggler, our collaboration with Robin Davey the talented Bristol animator and pensmith, has been storming its way up the 4mations charts (most played flash game, right? Many thanks for their hard work – it’s featured on some biggie sites like I Am Bored and Indie Games. It was racking up 20,000 hits a day when the Rubber boys first started seeding last week. Or it might have been the week before that. Have a play on it folks – not as easy as it looks, and people are racking up scores of 30,000 plus which is a little worrying. I could only bust out 25,000 when developing it!

Euroball hits the jackpot!

Team Rubber’s Euroball game for JVC, developed with Thought Den love at the tail end of last year (more info in our Portfolio), has been voted Adobe’s site of the day! A huge accolade from the people that make the software we all use day in day out. Great news!
