Fire Kills smashes 800k! And igfest is a go-go…

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Hello Thought Den blog, I haven’t paid you enough attention lately. But here’s some good news! The Fire Kills campaign managed and seeded by Team Rubber and built by Thought Den has clocked more 800,000 plays. The COI (Central Office of Information. Sounds a bit George Orwell dunnit?) are thrilled and plan to make a case study of it, because we’re all just so good at what we do…

In other news, Thought Den have joined Simon Games in the igfest engine room, provided commercial-minded support. This basically means we’ll be pestering some bad-ass brands over the next few weeks to get them involved. It’s too good a proposition to miss. Look at the similar event-based marketing activity of brands like Red Bull (Air Race, Formula 1), Virgin (V-Feset), Orange (Glastonbury), T-Mobile (Trafalgar Singalong etc) and Jack Daniels with their music programme.

If anyone has any thoughts on how we could pimp igfest, please do get in touch. And if you want to volunteer to help run the festival, please get in touch. And if you want to play – get your arse down to Bristol town centre on 11, 12 and 13 of September for some serious frivolous mental fun-ness. Over n out Cap’n.

AudioBoo.fm, the iPhone blogging app

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Right now I’m really enjoying AudioBoo.fm, the iPhone blogging app. It’s a project spawned out of the 4iP fund which allows it’s users to leave a short audio commentry about whatever they want.

Check my latest boo out here. They’re not always Thought Den material, however at minimum it’ll be mostly be rather un-insightful social/technological commentary.

Also, if you’re looking for a post made about young iPhone users (iPhones for toddlers), read it on the PM Studio blog.

‘CRB check’ tutorial needs a re-vamp!

Monday, May 18th, 2009

We’re filling in a CRB check for oue involvement with the BBC Milk project (more details about that when it’s not NDA!). However, I can say we’ll be working with Young People in education. But I’ve had to stop because….

my word, I wish they’d let us loose on the Tutorial video for filling in these forms!

CRB check

Why did we have to wait 2 minutes for a huge flash movie, which is essentially a set of 8 separate and very simple videos?

We have a feeling it was built a few years ago, because if it was being built today… It’d it was hosted on a Government approved video site, an equivalent being Vimeo? Then it could stream, the sound would be improved and would only have to watch the relevant videos

It’s not all bad though, the fact that they’ve got a very nice accessiable version to back it up isn’t too bad!

Facebook’s status update, #allyourfacebookarebelongtous

Friday, March 20th, 2009

So the Facebook status box doesn’t seem like such a good idea. Why is a virtual machine asking me what’s on my mind? It’s not going to offer advice and I’m not comfortable sharing my innermost worries with everyone’s News Feed.

So what is better question and response to expect? Here’s some ideas!

These were created using Firebug, Inspect & Edit. Feel free to #hashtag any of your own on twitter with, #allyourfacebookarebelongtous

The Hat Game hits SXSW and the big time on Youtube

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Looks like SXSW is going great for Simon Games. So far I’ve seen 2 separate videos about the hat game and one of them from the BBC!

The Hat game is a GPS enabled Bowler Hat which you have to try and hold for the longest period each day. To claim it, “I do believe you have my hat!” and grab it off them. Then upload you picture to the site and run away from anyone else trying to claim it. Simples!

Also the twitterverse is being used for tatics with the hashtag, #hatgame.
