Making good PHP at Thought Den

Job role : Junior Developer

Thought Den are an award winning digital studio based in the heart of Bristol’s thriving creative quarter, Stokes Croft. We use cutting edge technology and a little bit of mischief to create rich and playful experiences that help people learn online, offline and on the move.

We are looking for a junior PHP developer to play a key role in developing bespoke apps, digital frameworks and games for the likes of Tate, Southbank Centre and National Museums Scotland. Applicants will also be expected to contribute ideas for development under Thought Den’s own IP. Free cake, witty repartee and lunchtime xBox360 come as standard.

This role is ideally suited to a graduate or self-taught coder already familiar with the basics looking to prove themselves an invaluable team member.

Must haves:

  • Love of object oriented PHP
  • Basic MYSQL
  • Played with Linux before, so we don’t rm -rf * all our projects
  • Thirst for learning and improving skills.
  • A portfolio / Github account to show off

Nice to have:

  • Experience in Zend Framework, PhoneGap, SenchaTouch or jQueryMobile
  • Understanding of jQuery, HTML5 and CSS3
  • Familiar with GIT and proper version control
  • A love of games and game mechanics

Contract terms

  • 6 month probationary contract, starting in September 2012
  • £18k pro rata starting salary
