Marketing away the Barbershop Tash’
Being an avid member of the Bristol’s Great Western Chorus, meant one part of Thought Den was invited to attend the Barbershop Marketing day in Birmingham at the 138 centre.
The day covered many aspects of getting a chorus to think about what they’re promoting, eg, the GWC are a fun group of guys, love a sing + drink in the pub afterwards. Then taking those points and applying it into different areas of your Marketing Strategies.
Some chorus members were lucky enough to have mock interviews, get taught the ins and outs of the Newspaper trade and also how to deal with Radio Djs random and vain questioning!
The day inspired us to involve Thought Den by using our creative heads and have some fun with getting people into the ‘real Barbershop’ and away from straw boaters, moustaches and stripey waistcoats (even though it looks sexy, I know).
Big thanks to Alan Goldsmith and team from BABS, LABBS and Sweet Ads for organising the day.

| Get on the radio/tv or in the news somehow?
Any media is a good media, but something that wasn’t covered so much was getting onto a purely digital medium. Allowing younger generations that we want to be singing, have access to the information in a format they love, on the computer, on the mobile phone and over items like the iPod.

Not lost any sleep over it
| But who’s the kid on the right?
Tea boy
| Better start with an update of the GWC Logo then
Ironic how we dislike Ant & Dec for having a tash and hat for Saturday night takeaway but most of our logos have them on…

OH…… and stop singing Victorian songs
